Beginer Beat in Dartmoor

Hi Westcountry Angling Team,
as I`m new to fly fishing I would like to ask which river beat in Dartmoor you can recommend for beginners? I want to fish for brown trout mainly (think the seatrout and salmon licence is not necessary as i won`t catch these more difficult fish. And I dont want to fish in the night at all :-D. We will stay in the Western Part of Dartmoor so I thougth of fisihing in the West Dart main river, what you think?
Thanks &Greetings,

Christoph – really sorry for the ridiculously late reply to your question, it seems to been lost in the system somewhere! Hopefully you have managed to get out on the Dartmoor Fishery to have a go by now but, in answer to your question – the West Dart would be a great river to start on, you could drop in around Huccaby Bridge to get a feel for the river and then perhaps head upstream to section around Prince Hall. The forest car park at Bellever on the East Dart would be another easy access location to a reasonably easy to fish area – ideal to get started on. Dave @ WRT
