I live in Bickleigh, South West Devon. Can you advise where is best for river brown/rainbow trout fishing that is relatively close.

Bickleigh is on the banks of the river Exe, a cracking river and one of, if not the largest in the County. The Westcountry Angling Passport has some beats on the Exe although they are quite a way upstream on the main river or on one of the main tributaries, the Culm. The beat details for these are at the following link, beats 1 to 4 – http://westcountryangling.com/wap-fishing-beats/. All of the other Passport beats are also listed here, some of which aren’t too far away.

There are also some other ways of fishing the Exe; take a look at what is available through the Fish the Exe scheme – http://www.fishtheexe.co.uk/. You could also check out what is available through Exeter Angling Centre at the bottom of the river – http://www.exeterangling.co.uk/ and Dulverton Angling Association further up river. Please take a look and see if there is something you fancy and if you need anything else please drop us a line at [email protected].
