Beat 7: Blue Fox Glade
Little Dart – River Taw
Beat 7: Blue Fox Glade – Little Dart
SS 699136 – SS 708136 1200m left hand single bank
This is a secluded stretch of river with a nice mix of riffles, runs and some lovely big pools. Trout fishing with a chance of a sea trout or possibly a salmon, given good water. Usually lightly fished, possibly due to the walk to access the water, this beat remains productive to the few anglers who fish it regularly, often producing a really decent stamp of brown trout. After a quiet 2015, 2016 proved more popular for the Glade bagging 51 brown trout to 11’’
Directions & Access:
On the A377 at Eggesford Station take the B3042 east to Chawleigh for 1.7miles and bear left at Hollow Tree Cross on to the B3096. 50 or so yards along on the right you will see double gates with a sign saying Blue Fox Glade, Target Sports, etc. Open and go through the gates closing them behind you. Either park inside the gates being sure not to block the track or proceed 250m down the track and park adjacent to the log piles on the right; the token box is by the log piles next to a willow. You can then proceed down the track to the beat on foot.
Info & Restrictions:
Spinning for salmon allowed before 1 April thereafter fly only. All trout under 8” must be returned, no more than 2 trout to be retained per day. No more than 1 salmon, 2 sea trout to be retained per day. Sorry, no dogs.
