River Mole – River Taw
Beat 6: Garramarsh Farm – River Mole
SS 72544 22610 – SS 72314 22308 800m single bank
Garramarsh on the Mole comprisese four main pools with a mix of glides and riffles. The larger pools are likely to offer the chance of a salmon or day time sea trout following a spate. In times of lower water it should provide good brown trout fishing. For 2018 the owners have opened up some water at the lower end of the beat, though difficult to access, should provide some nice trouting.
Directions & Access:
From South Molton, take the B3137 south towards Witheridge, the beat is only some 3m south of South Molton. When in Alswear take the road off the A3137 sign posted George Nympton/ King’s Nympton. Continue along this road for 450m, crossing over the river and you will find Garramarsh Farm on the right. Proceed up the drive; the parking area is not far along on the right. A path is located to the right of the parking area that leads to a stile that provides access to the river. The lower part of the beat is accessed through the five bar gate a little way down the hill from the entrance into Garramarsh Farm. The token box is the post on the left hand side of the path just before the stile at the entrance to the beat.
Info & Restrictions:
Fly only, single barbless hooks to be used at all times when fishing catch and release. All trout under 8” must be returned. 1 brown trout of over 8” or 1 sea trout of over 10” may be retained per day. 1 salmon may be retained per day subject to national and local byelaws. Voluntary catch and release of all species strongly encouraged. Sorry, no dogs.
