Beat 27: Knowle Farm

River Lew – River Tamar

Beat 27: Knowle Farm – River Lew

SX 441834 – SX 454846     2200m double bank

This is a lovely long stretch of classic brown trout water that may also produce the occasional grayling. It comprises a number of pools and deep runs that largely flow through open meadows. The River Lew contains a good head of brownies to 15” and it clears quickly after a spate. Good dry fly water suited to a shorter 7-8ft fly rod. With a few more boots on the water, 2017 produced plenty of brown trout and some good sized grayling.
