Beat 13: Lane Barton
Upper River Torridge
Beat 13: Lane Barton – Upper River Torridge
SS 403121 – SS 410113 1700m of mixed single and double bank
This is a lovely and extensive trout beat with good stocks of larger fish. This part of the Torridge has an excellent mayfly hatch in early June although it is fairly heavily shaded in places so fishing from within the river and casting under the trees is essential to cover this beat effectively. It has fished consistently well over the years and is a popular beat with Passport regulars but should really be fished more often! 2016 produced again with well over 100 fish in the 10” to 13” range., often falling to the dry.
Directions & Access:
From Holsworthy take the A388 heading towards Bideford. Cross over the River Waldon and the River Torridge. Post your tokens and then follow the stream down to the river.
