Beat 26a: Upper Sydenham

River Lyd – River Tamar

Beat 26: Sydenham – River Lyd

84761  800m mixed single and double bank

For 2019, Sydenham has been devided into two seperate beats to spread the load on this populary piece of river. With easier access and wading, Upper Sydenham is ideal for a more fleeting visit or for those less comfortable with the larger, wilder Lower Sydenham beat. A series of structures add diversity to what was a channelised stretch of river. Fish the pots and runs below the boulders and the calm pools and glides above. Spotting fish should be possible with the Lyd’s excelent clarity so walk quietly up and find your quarry before slipping in behind it.
