Beat 36: Tregeagle
Tresillian River – Cornwall
Beat 36: Tregeagle – Tresillian River
SW 873470 – SW 86946 600m of right hand single bank
This beat is just above the tide and has a good head of brown trout and usually a run of sea trout from late April. Try a 7-8ft 3-5wt fly rod and fish in the evening for sea trout. They can be caught on nymph by day but worm and Mepps (size 2) are often the most effective method, particularly after a summer spate (even better if coinciding with spring tides). The section above the weir and the pool below are generally the most productive. It is becoming a little more popular with fly fishers looking for browns but is generally very lightly fished. Keep it quiet but it has a very good head of brown trout; over 100 brownies were recorded in 2016 to 11”.
