This fishery comprises a lovely stretch of brown trout water on the upper section of the River Culm, a tributary of the River Exe. The beat is located in central Devon approximately 1km east of Hemyock within the Blackdown Hills AONB. It is a small stream comprising a variety of riffled sections and deeper runs with occasional deeper pools. It had another good year in 2017 recording 60 brown trout to 11”.

Directions & Access:

The token box is located at Gladhayes Bridge. From M5 Junction 27 take the A38 signed Wellington, stay on this road crossing over the M5 then take the right turn onto the B3391 signed Culmstock/Hemyock. Continue on this road through Culmstock to Hemyock, from Hemyock head east signed Clayhidon/Churchstanton, continue out of the village for 700m before taking a left, again to Clayhidon/Churchstanton, continue for a further 900m before taking a left signed Rosemary Lane. Gladhayes Bridge is a further 60m.  The token box is over the bridge on the left.


Info & Restrictions:

Brown trout catch and release, fly fishing only. Barbless hooks recommended. Fishing is permitted between sunrise and sunset each day. Strictly no dogs, sorry.
