Beat 10: Upper Teign
Beat 10: Upper Teign, Teign
SX 694879 – SX804883 12km of mixed double and single bank
This is an extensive fishery comprising a fantastic and very long stretch of brown
trout water located in the Dartmoor National Park. It fished well in 2014 producing 130 brown
trout to 13.5”. Due to the depth of the valley and its upland aspect it can take a while to get
going in spring. It comprises a good mix of pools, glides and riffles and, although good nymph
water, the dry fly is king once things get going.
The area around Fingle Inn and other access areas can get very busy with walkers and their
dogs. As such it is often necessary to walk to locations away from the main tourist activity.
