You may know that there have been problems with diseased salmon and sea trout in the River Dart this season?

As a result of these problems the Environment Agency has brought in an emergency byelaw that makes it illegal to retain any salmon.  Therefore all salmon caught must be returned.  In addition, on the Dartmoor Fishery, all sea trout also have to be returned.

The aim of these measures is to help protect salmon and sea trout stocks while they are suffering with disease.

Please ensure that all salmon and sea trout you catch are returned to the river immediately, at the point of capture.
